A Good Rant – Just Do It!

This is a post made by Martin Avis of www.kickstartdaily.com which is one of the better, FREE honest newsletters out there .
This post makes a lot of sense to me to I thought I would put it up here

“There was a thread on the Warrior Forum recently where a guy was
selling his process for making money online. It cost $7. I was
amazed at the number of people who demanded proof before they
would consider ‘investing’ such a huge sum.

There were many nasty comments – coming pretty close to calling
the guy a fraud. Yet the people baying for blood hadn’t bought
his product. They didn’t know if be was a fraud or a saint, but
because he dared to offer them a money making strategy – and
wanted their money (a whole $7) in return – their daggers were in
his back. And his front.

How To Get Life Back On Track

As you may know I am a student of Alex Jeffrey’s Coaching.

There are plenty of active students on the members’ forum but in the last few weeks the forum has gone quiet, and further to that, people do not seem to be posting on their blogs quite so often.

I assumed that they were all away busy creating products, getting traffic, making money etc, and I wondered what my problem was, as I had more or less come to a halt.

There is always a reason of course for inactivity, ranging from family business, illness, prior commitments or to just plain “hitting the wall”.

That was me last week – a lot of family commitments, a bit of illness and a complete lack of focus.

However, our mentor Alex Jeffreys has surfaced again after his wedding and honeymoon to tell us how unfocused he became, how many distractions he has had during that period – and so on.

Then he told us what he was doing about it

Since then other people have also mentioned their distractions, their illnesses, “hitting the wall” or just good old plain procrastination!

So, what is the point of all this?

Internet Marketing is for the most part a lonely business.

We sit hunched over our computers, in our own little worlds, possibly thinking when it all goes wrong that this only happens to me.
But now we find out that not only are we the only ones affected, but that even successful marketers can have similar problems, just like anybody else.

The point is, don’t beat yourself up for losing focus, having a spot of procrastination, having to commit to your families but just get past it, take a break, have that family time, or whatever is best for you, and then get going again. This is not a race.

Success is about attitude.

There are basically two types of people in this business.
First there are the ones who cave in under pressure and eventually just give up, and then there are those that pick themselves up every time it all goes wrong and just get going again – and again.

These are the successful marketers.

So, take action. Give it your best effort. Keep chipping away and make progress bit by bit.
You are not alone and if you are stuck – ask for help! Get life back on track!

You do not need to be a member of the Alex Jeffrey’s Coaching Forum to do this. You can ask for help in many of the online forums relating to your niche or the Warrior Forum where you will always find someone to help.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

Alex Jeffreys Module 4 – Social Media Traffic

Last Thursday was the latest (4th) of the Alex Jeffreys modules which was about Social Media and how to drive traffic to your blog.

Start time for me is at midnight and to make things a little more interesting we were out in the forest having a weekend family gathering (compulsory!).
So, a bit behind at the moment  but the boss said no computer business this last weekend (you know how it is).

However, with the help of my old laptop and the G3 “dongle”, I managed to make contact over the high trees and join the Live Coaching call.

And I am very glad I did as the content of this call from Alex was first class.

This call was all about getting traffic using Social Media.

As we all know no traffic means no list and no list means no business, so this was definitely worth listening to.

First point made was that blogs do attract Traffic.

Suggested ways to build traffic are :-

  • Show an interest in people
  • tell them what you are doing
  • tell people how to do it
  • provide good content
  • leave comments on other blogs
  • provide value on other peoples’ blogs and get some of their traffi
  • JVs
  • get involved with Twitter
  • use Youtube
  • review other blogs.

Alex used the analogy of oil rigs and fish. Man made structures(oil rigs) attract small fish, which in turn attract bigger fish, which also attract…………….and so o

This was used to explain that traffic building starts small and builds up over time.

This is started by taking a look at other blogs in your niche and making VALUE comments. By adding your signature to your comments, which should include a link to your blog, you will also receive traffic in return, if your comments are VALUE COMMENTS.

You can also add comments to the “big blogs” as well but you must, yes you’ve got it, add VALUE otherwise your comment will just be deleted.

    What Is A Blog Anyway?

Alex Jeffreys third module centered around this question and why you should have a blog.

For the people that don’t know the word “blog” comes from the word weblog – as simple as that.

A blog is basically an online diary that is available on the web. Updating a blog is “blogging” and someone who has a blog is a “blogger.”

Blogs are usually updated daily using various software programs that allows people run their blog and update with very little, if any, technical knowledge.

Having got that out of the way we come to the “why”.

Blogging can be a great way to promote or market yourself, your business, product and service .

If you wish to become an internet marketer a blog is essential as blogging not only maintains your focus, it also makes you accountable to people and gives you instant feedback from the market.

Your first post will give you instant momentum in that market.

    What shall I blog about?

Blog about yourself, your plans, what you are doing now, give value advice and tips, talk about your online community, build your readership – and of course, build your list!

Always provide value. This way you can get feedback, and eventually, funnel traffic to your products.

Another piece of sound advice was to make a good effort with the “About” page by telling your readers about yourself, maybe adding a photo – in fact show the readers that there is a real human being behind all this.

I hope you find this helpful.

Module 1 – Forward To Basics

The first webinar to start off Alex Jeffrey’s Marketing With Alex 2.0 was  called “Forward To Basics”. Yes, forward not back to basics.

This was great stuff from Alex and he had our attention from start to finish – and the finish was after 4+ hours, not the advertised 2 hours!
    Talk about over delivering.

The basics are the basics of business rather than the basics of internet marketing.
He emphasized that organization is the key to greater productivity and better results.
He also gave a lot of sound advice about how to go about this which included:

    • only check your emails twice a day (touched a nerve with a lot of us there!
    • stop surfing!
    • tidy your desk (I definitely need to do this)
    • “go to work” i.e. close the door to your “office” and remove all distractions
    • work to a schedule – for example in 1 hour sessions, then take a break- and so on.Use a timer for this.
    • only drink water.

This is sound advice but perhaps more importantly he stated that you need to “manage” your business from the start and have a structured business.

In order to do this we need to start the following and plan ahead:

    • create 3 plans – a business plan, an entrepreneur plan and a personal plan.
    • create a 1-year plan.
    • create a 90-day plan.
    • create a 4-week plan
    • create a 1-week plan
    • create a daily plan and plan tomorrow today.
    • also write a daily “did” sheet to see what you have done and keep you on track.
    • get focussed on one thing only not many things as the chance of success is better
    • take action

This is all good advice and I for one needed it as I am sure many other people do. So, a lot of time wasted before but now it is time to get organized.
I hope you find this advice useful as well.

    Alex Jeffrey’s “Marketing With Alex”

Like many people I have been trying to start an online business. I have been trying for a year now and although I have some affiliate sites up I am not making a lot of progress.

I have also spent too much money buying the “latest and greatest” from the “gurus” and I now suffer from what is known as information overload. Does all this sound familiar?

However, there are a few pearls of wisdom I have learned along the way.

    1) Don’t try to reinvent the wheel – follow success.

    2) Get a mentor – all successful marketers have or have had a mentor.

    3) Focus on one thing at a time

    … and much more.

Alex Jeffreys came to my attention some time back, I watched the first coaching mentoring program which sounded like hell of a ride, and decided I had found my mentor. When the next mentoring program was announced I joined as soon as I could.

Last week I began my first coaching session with Alex Jeffrey’s “Marketing With Alex”.

The live coaching call started at midnight my time (GMT+1) so it was a question of keeping focussed as he went

through the module. I started to lose focus just after 3:00am as the two hour call was still in full flow!

Alex is definitely thorough and he stayed answering questions until everyone had had their say or queries were answered.

Thankfully, the call was recorded and within the next few days a recording of the call, the Powerpoint slides from the presentation, MP3 Audio and a module checklist was made available to the members. I’m sure students from some of the other parts of the world who couldn’t take part are grateful for that.

    I know I am.
